#148106 RE: Jonnyo07 #148085

we’ve only had one real pilot program...and that was what kim described as a “real world” sericulture facility outside the U.S......

everything else has been under lab conditions, including ds...he has increased capacity and what not, but it’s still lab conditions....and even then he has has genetic drift issues...

but the real world pilot facility was shut down because kim had no hope of ever getting it to produce silk with quality and consistency...

all i ever heard was that it was an “infrastructure problem” and kim felt vietnam was the solution...he has never stated the problem was fixed...and everything we have produced since then has been in lab conditions...

some seem to believe whatever the problem was has been fixed...after all these years since since the pilot facility failure, i’d like to think so too...but i don’t know and kim has NEVER stated it was...

so far in vietnam, the eggs/worms seem to be thriving...under lab conditions...no surprise there since they always have...

if kim intends to utilize a large building to mass produce and essentially mimick a lab environment, then i’m guessing it should all be just fine...

if kim intends to mass produce the way the vietnamese have always done it, then i really don’t think anyone knows what the results will be...even kim...as far as i know, a real world sericulture facility has not been attempted since the last failure..
