#13442 RE: j3pflynn #13441

Paul, I remember AMD's presentation on dual gate transistors, and how special that was supposed to be. Shortly afterward, Intel came out with their tri-gate transistor, effectively upstaging them. Is this presentation supposed to come across as anything but an attempt to catch up to Intel's implementation? How can they claim that this is a 45nm process technique (same as Intel's intercept point) when their dual gate transistor wasn't even ready for that node, and we already know that Intel is ahead in this area? I think they have some pieces of the puzzle - at least enough to produce some good numbers in simulation, but I don't think that demonstrates that they are any farther with this technology than anyone else in the industry (including those who remain silent on the topic).
