Last I saw, Norco was the most prescribed opioid pain medication of them all. Could’ve changed in the last year or two with the addiction landscape though.

Have been told by a healthcare professional that Percocet prescripts are way down. Not being prescribed anymore according to this individual. This person told me that anyone saying otherwise is not telling the truth.

JJ,

All opioid Rx's are going down, for a variety of reasons, including DEA's three-year run of quota reductions. My patients and myself are monitored through a state reporting system, and it is law that I check that database with every prescription. There are legal restrictions on how many days and how many pills I can Rx with a first prescription, and there are extensive hoops to jump through for chronic prescriptions (higher the dose, more hoops). I have never been a big prescriber of any opioids, but I have noticed because of these rules my partners that used to be much more generous are less so these days. Also, as an internist, I'm a bit of purist. I tend avoid combo pills. I Rx Percs and Norco for just a few people that I inherited on those drugs already, but any new Rx I write for IR is oxycodone IR tablets, which do not contain Tylenol and which are splittable. The few people I have on long-acting opioids are all wearing fentanyl patches.

So, yes, all opioid Rx's are decreasing nationally, but I completely disagree with what you have been told about Percocet's impact on ELTP revenue. Do you know the one place where Percocet sales are not falling? Elite Pharmaceuticals. As I said earlier, I think that whatever quota we get from DEA we will manufacture and sell 100% of it. ELTP's Percocet revenue will go from zero to something, and that something depends entirely on the quota from DEA. Any sales of Percocet, large or small, will have a significant impact on ELTP revenue relative to previous years.
