General Growth owned malls, not retail stores... Huge difference! You tear down the bad malls, you often have valuable land for other purposes. And that was a decade ago. Things have gotten much worse.
Do you want me to list all the retailers that have failed lately with zero shareholder return? As for Sears, who's putting in the billions to rebuild/remodel their hundreds of dated, shabby stores? No One! More than just "saving" Sears this month is involved.
