"Conclusion
The deadline for Sears to notify bidders the qualification status of their bids and to announce auction packages is 4 p.m. January 4. The auction is currently set to take place on January 14.

Under any of the plans from Lampert, investors, except 1lien holders, are impaired. For SHLDQ shareholders and holders of unsecured claims/notes, it seems their only recovery will be some token payment for releases. It will be interesting to learn the bids from liquidators and from those bidding for specific assets and see if any higher bid or bids could impact investors."

Headlines in the media that Lampert is buying Sears for $4.4 billion are misleading. He is not actually paying $4.4 billion, and at this point, he is not buying all the assets.

So what do we have to gain?
