That is the reason given for the CCAA vs. BIA BOTH of which are Canadian. It is NOT why they pursued the CCAA vs bankruptcy in the US.

The Bankruptcy Insolvency Act is Canadian.

Bankruptcy in the US was moved to Chapter 15 for the foreign proceeding. But they had no choice but to pursue in Canada because of the reasons I stated.

Corporate entity owning assets in Canada
Secured Creditors in Canada.
