Rene Morentin is a real person. Look up UNITED STATES v. SARNO. He had to give testimony involving Trafalgar during his time in investment banking. There is documented evidence by the federal government that he is a real person who worked for an investment banking firm, so we can rule that out. He is mentioned by name as a witness by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and as an employee of Trafalgar, but was not otherwise involved in the case. See sections XIV A and XIV C.
