Yes. The problem with that is, SIAF's interest in TRW goes up and down like a jojo. That's probably why they wanted to do it this way.

It does happen; I had shares in Ekornes last year and they had one record date, one ex date and two payment dates.

However, they were not distributing >100% of the market cap, they were not distributing shares in a different company, and the second distribution were not dependent on return of collateral shares.
