I have trouble understanding what the real purpose of this "shareholder alert" other than to stimulate some shareholder buying based on speculation of what might be meant.
After all, what was really said? Some un-named OEM is going to put out an unknown quantity of its version of the Odyssey 1000 (which, BTW was jointly developed with Digitalway) sometime later this year and pay some sort of unquantified licensing fees to e.Digital.
Shareholders will have no idea of the financial significance of this for many months until the 10Q for QE 12/31/03 is released in mid February.
This reminds me of the PR about Musical supposedly putting MOS in the Classic CHD player. Shareholders went out and snatched them up in late 2001, certain that e.Digital was going to get substantial revenue from Musical. It turned out that the agreement did not provide for any royalties to be paid on the sales prior to April 1, 2003 and total revenue to e.Digital was just a few thousand dollars.
This deal could be just as pathetic. If it were really significant, it would have mentioned expected revenue and put out as a PR to attract new investors.
IMO, this was just more of the same embellished fluff e.Digital's been putting out lately and probably why it wasn't released on the wires as a PR.
