I think my better half may have gotten a bite from "the kissing bug," that tends to get you on the face, near the lips. Hers was just below lips, nice thing about this bug is it leaves holes in your heart, years later, so we will get her blood test soon, hundreds of thousands of Americans likely have been bit according to this:
