I am using uphold to directly purchase my xrp from my bank account. I am only allowed to purchase 500 at one time. It takes several business days for cash to settle but I lock in my rate and amount of xrp at time of purchase.
I haven’t tried to sell yet and o do wonder if I am only allowed to both buy and sell $500 at a time.
For me, I can only invest a few hundred here and there and am not a day trader so this is working for the time being. But for a day trader or someone planning to make larger transactions this will not work. I was advised to purchase on uphold and then transfer to another wallet. I am setup on bitstamp with linked bank account. If I become a millionaire maybe I will need to transfer it there to convert and withdraw. I’ll deal with the rich people problems of logistics of my cash when I get there in 10 years :)
