So far as I know the first 7nm will be graphics. Probably server late 1st half 19 .....

Intel shortage is plausible. If there were no shortage raising prices would postpone the hit to revenue. The "shortage" is a good excuse for the competitions inferior products wins.

I don't think 7nm matters much with this topic. This is more about volume production, where AMD uses 14 and 12nm Glofo processes that are available in high volume. AMD can jump in with those volume products.

7nm is likely going to be volume restricted, due to ramp up, Apple etc. It's also going to be very expensive. I doubt it is going to be cheaper than 14 or 10nm, even when counting in the shrink. As far as I know, it needs a lot of additional litho steps, since TSMC still uses immersion litho for it, which is increasingly difficult at these geometries. There is a reason why Intel and Samsung move to EUV, which still isn't ready for volume production as it seems. To make it short: 7nm is not going to be a volume node in 2019 I suspect.

Cloud guys won't quickly move to AMD either, since they have to qualify their products before they can move. Any shortage in that area will benefit AMD largely, though, since they will, from now on, strongly consider AMD as second supplier and start the qualification process asap. AMDs products are very competitive anyway, so this is the final push they needed, if any.

This seems very stupid from Intel, extremely stupid actually, but on the other hand, it is clear that ramping up a new process binds equipment. The thing just is, from what I have read, that EUV takes a lot more clean room space. So you can either work on that process or keep old production at full tilt. Both isn't possible. Just very bad and stupid planning from Intel, especially considering that mothballed fab. Krzanich really is a big loser. And that from a process guy, incredible. What always puzzles me is that such losers walk away with heaps of money, which kind of is a slap into the face of avarage workers which get punished immediatly for every misstep they make. The board really should be exchanged as well in my opinion. They made many wrong decisions, starting with Krzanich.
