I also bought some several years ago. It was the powder that mixes with paint. By the time I got around to painting I forgot all about it so I still have the powder sitting around wasting space. I don't know how I would go about testing it. I figure if any major client bought this stuff they would have tested it so my bet is that it does indeed work. If it did not work for you perhaps you did something incorrect.
