Spokeshave, I can't speak to any previous definitions EP may have used for "manufacturable", but his current usage suggests he is now defining it as something like:
manufacturable (adj.) 1. Able to be built with a sufficiently efficient and economically viable process.
Meaning, they can make enough of them, and, related to this, that the process yield is good enough so that they are actually making a decent profit on the good chips.
As for your quote from Elmer, "No need to be condescending.", I have to say that if he followed his own advice too far, his posts would lose that ineffable Elmerness which we all cherish.
