I'm sorry but "par value" has absolutely nothing to do with anything here.
500 dollars worth equals 5 million shares at .0001 the value at par .001 equals a 5000 dollars off your taxes at the end of year regardless of write off or R/S
A $500 investment here does not equal a $5,000 write off in US tax laws. Capital losses are calculated on your basis (what you bought it for) and what you sell it for. In the case that the stock is unsellable you then write off your full investment but will need to account for that stock gain if you ever sell it.
