I'm a American and a fan of our system but when it comes to the war on drugs and cannabis (particularly industrial hemp), we got it all wrong
CBD research has been illegal for nearly 80 years since we made Cannabis a Schedule 1 drug, meaning there is no medical use for it and no allowed research by doctors and other professionals
Most of the early research has come out of Israel and other countries looser with their regulations, like this:
Dr. Raphael Machoulam is professor of Medical Chemistry at Hebrew University in Jerusalem. He's studied cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) for over 50 years and identified a major physiological system (the endocannabinoid system) which seems to be involved in many human diseases. Marijuana mimics compounds found in the brain, named endocannabinoids, and are of immense importance in bodily functions. Related compounds found more recently in the brain and in bones have to do with brain protection and osteoporosis.
Imo CBD and other hemp derivatives will be utilized much more in the near future as evidence comes in showing how useful it can be for otherwise problematic cases, like Charlotte's Web strain for seizures
