#56905 RE: Eli's Gone #56904

Henrik Stenson has removed his name from the field at this week's NORTHERN TRUST, the first leg of the FedExCup Playoffs.
The Swede has been battling elbow concerns but that doesn't appear to be affecting his ball-striking. He said last week that it doesn't hinder him during practice or play (only in the gym). To back that up, he's gained 17.6 strokes tee-to-green over his last three starts (10 rounds). That includes a whopping 6.6 strokes gained on approach last week in Greensboro. During that same stretch, he's lost 13.5 strokes putting. At 50th in the FedExCup standings, he can afford to rest as he's guaranteed at least one more start (which would be his 15th of the season if he chooses to return to action). The only odd thing about this WD is the fact that he's still on the outside of the Ryder Cup squad but with his solid ball-striking recently, perhaps he's received word that a captain's pick is headed his way and he'd better serve the team if he's well rested before heading to Paris.
