#1284 RE: j5mith #1283

That is why I said "lets pretend".

Personally I don't believe Freedom Motors or Moller International will achieve anything.

I have been following these companies for too long to believe there is any possibility of success anymore.

Personally I think that they don't really want to move forward. I think that Dr Moller is just tinkering with this and that to keep himself busy.

Here is just one of the reasons I believe that there is no will to succeed anymore:

There is a competition called the GoFly prize. Sponsored by Boeing. There are 3 phases in the competition.

Phase 1 consisted of submitting written technical information for a personal VTOL aircraft able to carry one person. Electric propulsion is NOT a requirement. 10 designs won $20,000 each. Most of the winning designs are laughable, but these people walked away with $20,000 to set them up for Phase 2.
Glenn Martin, the inventor of the Martin Jetpack, submitted a design (his was not chosen). One of the winning designs was from Trek Aerospace (the designers of the Springtail). All Dr Moller had to do was to submit a design. I know he has designs for single seat VTOLs, so it would not have taken a huge amount of time or effort to put together.

Phase 2 has a four $50,000 prizes for reviewed technical papers and demonstrations of a scale model is permitted. Anybody can enter all phases, so even if you didn't win a prize in phase 1, you can still compete.

Phase 3 has a $1,000,000 grand prize and other prizes as well. I also know that the Zapatta flyboard air and Jetpack Aviation will compete. Among other demonstrated vtols.

If Dr Moller was still committed to getting Skycars in the air he would have at least competed in Phase 1.

$20,000 and some positive exposure could have helped a lot. Or at least demonstrated to shareholders and fans that there is still a will to succeed.

I am pretty sure some phase 1 competitors now has sponsors.
