You'll never own any stocks if you sell on uncertainty. LOL. I'd suggest you "paper trade" some Rights Offerings for awhile. Also get a copy of The Intelligent Investor by Ben Graham (any library should have it). That's Buffett's favorite stock guide, and required reading in many college investing courses.
I will say that rapid flipping of stocks on hunches, whims and charts almost never works out. Humans are unfortunately wired from birth to be awful stock pickers. With 20 or 30 years of experience -- and book education -- many people improve.
