It was close to where they had their working pilot plant. Also they had a stock pile of "dirt" with platinum in it. Some of the dirt was used for local roads. I think there were a couple of mining properties near by. One produced gold sent to the US mint -- who threw away the platinum (back in the early 1900s).

Anyway I think 1) Jensen died, but (2) new environmental laws put a stop to the pilot plant -- what was legal before was now illegal environmental discharge. I'm guessing here; but the cost to meet new environmental laws was too prohibitive and the pilot plant was abandoned; some time/years later Twifford was the "guy" and he had a process to recover platinum and gold from well water.
