In this case it is the FDA as a whole, if you have never seen the counter in a statisticians's review.

I mean they are faced with reviewing and explaining to the non-stats guys (excluding D'Agostino, who I think may be one) on the panel whether a different result has it's merits.

It's hard to believe that after all those years that they do not know it as a fundamental. Perplexing.

This has long occurred to me. I don't know Cox Regression, but Regression methods are so widely accepted for all kinds of uses, far more broadly than survival.

Wonder if the exactly same Survival analytical tools are used, say in manufacturing (eg long-term or fatigue studies ?) - was wondering what the preferred techniques were. You would think Kaplan-Meier / log-rank must have broader applications, but it seems to be used only in the medical context. Maybe it's the right-censoring that makes it unique.
