Unfortunately everybody seems to thing think that On4 is operating in a vacuum where there are no competitors. There are literally dozens of competitors all vying for a piece of the pie. Some have marketing budgets of millions of dollars. They are having a difficult time selling units at $119, let alone over $300.
Just as an example many of the competitors have hundreds of Amazon reviews. bSafeMobile has 6 reviews, most from October 2017. There hasn't been an Amazon sale since in probably four months. The eBay seller hasn't sold a unit. The retail price is almost the same as what On4 "sold" the units for to dealerships .
Everybody knows that you shouldn't look at your phone while driving. Yet everybody knows you shouldn't smoke yet people still do. Everyone is too addicted to their phones. Instant gratification means more at this point in most peoples lives than shutting off a phone. When the bell goes off on your phone most people can't resist the urge to pick it up.
