There are no studies that conclusively prove industrial hemp derived CBD has calming and stress relieving properties. It's just anecdotal story telling pushed by vested interests (producers and stockholders) out to cash in on the interest in marijuana. There is likely some placebo effect by sincere users as well. Hyped up claims have spread well beyond the reasonably valid studies re. epilepsy and related serious conditions.
You seem rather confused about marijuana vs. CBDs. The calming (spaced out) feelings experienced by stoners are due to the THC.
