Could anyone really knowledgeable tell me if this is real or an urban myth?

I know a short squeeze can be promulgated on big board stocks by locking shares.
But...
And no disrespect, but I thought in pinkies the offshore peeps and mm’s can makes short and retail has to pay soooo much in margin that there really is no way to lock up shares.

I am sincere in my question.
I am happy to put a GTC for $1.00 or more if it really makes a difference.
I am small fish now at almost 2mm so I don’t think my small amount would have impact.

I am a believer in ARYC and would love to learn if this is something that could make even a tiny difference.
