I, for one, have never advocated for "the AIG deal" but only the part that involved shrinking the assets-at-risk portfolio which, in our case would be via the CSP and a shared explicit government guarantee as suggested in the FHFA utility model white paper. This reduction at AIG was what allowed their RRR to go forward and avoid a wipe out of shareholders.
