#466051 RE: stevelwr1 #466049

in an interview a couple weeks ago with Bloomberg, Blaine Luetkemeyer (who should succeed Hensarling) said that Congress just needs to get direction from Mnuchin regarding GSE reform and the basic framework Treasury wants to implement and that Congress can fill in the blanks...he also seemed to indicated it would be a priority of Congress in the next session...Mnuchin has also emphasized that it would be a strong priority of his in the next session...I have been frustrated waiting like everybody else here, but it makes sense that Mnuchin has been waiting to give direction until he has a new FHFA director in place...also, Hensarling and Corker will both be gone in the next session, which can only help the chances of GSE reform succeeding...still a good chance that Congress does not pass anything, but odds have increased and at worst Mnuchin said that he will take Admin action at some point...at this point the benefit to "holding the bag" until resolution is that you at least get a lower tax rate on gains, whenever that is...
