Thank you GT.

You are exactly right.

I have doubt about the figure and thought we had seen this sort of calculation here in the past.
That figure seems WAY over the top but I am not finding any sort of info contradicting that.

Your numbers match those in the story i posted.
If those numbers and acreage conversion is correct the land for this project will produce the 500-800 tons when it is in full use.

As of today the production of silk in VN is 450 tons a year.

More than doubling their current output.

In my head I can not fathom doubling the production of an entire country as a "start up plan".

I was expecting the first year of production I would be happy if they can get 1 ton a month.
didnt see passing 5 tons a month for a few years.
but using that land is enough for over 10x that.

I understand the time span of the project is at 10 years. But getting that capacity in 10 years is FAR beyond my expectations.

I was very conservative in my guesses at production abilities I should have been buying way more shares over the years.

hi gt
i missed happy hour on friday,at least we got our answer.

some good info there.

but what i'm going to do is provide some data from quang nam farmers
i think it is best for people to use local data

-Mulberry Varieties, breeds silkworms, productivity, output:
Mulberry is a perennial tree, planted once harvest 10 - 15 years to renovate. Mulberry can be harvested after 6 months. The first year yields are half that of the second year. Mulberry yields high from the second year onwards. Average yield of mulberry leaves is 15-20 tons / ha, if intensive investment is 25-30 tons / ha.

In Quang Nam, mulberry varieties are mainly produced from mulberry saplings and cuttings. This is a mulberry imported from China through the small quota, has not been officially tested in Vietnam. In addition, some households cultivated with mulberry VH13; This is a hybrid F1 hybrid seed planted by the Central Silkworm Research Center and recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. However, the farmers do not get high yield from this variety.
.

About growing only 6-7 litters a year. Silkworm varieties popular nowadays are bred in Quang Nam is the same cross-platform, silkworms cocoons, fresh yellow dot, just like it has silkworm resistant to hot, humid weather and diseases. Silkworms are provided by Thai Binh Silkworm.
.
-Economic efficiency of Mulberry cultivation
+ According to farmers' calculations: 2 pairs of mulberry after 4-6 months can grow 1 box of eggs, each year raising 7 litters, yield: 1 normal egg box for 20 kg of cocoon; Thus: 1 ha of mulberry farm 70 boxes of eggs per year for products of cocoon 1400kg. Cocoon price in 2016: 100,000 - 120,000 VND / kg, earning 140 - 160 million / ha / year
.

+ Theoretical way:
The amount of mulberry for silkworm rearing for 1 kg of cocoon is 17-18 kg. Good farmers need 15-16kg, poor farmers need 19-20kg
Mulberry yield is about 1,500kg - 1,750kg / sao / 1 year (about 30-35 tons of leaves / 1ha).
Thus, the yield of mulberry 30 tons / ha can give the product of 1,500 kg of cocoon (the highest consumption of mulberry leaves), ie income from 150-180 million / ha.

this was from 12 months ago
some great info can be read here

i've posted this link a few times.

i know people think everything is happening at once with the news people have been reading in quang nam.
but as you can see, the quang nam plan happened a long time ago and we are now seeing those plans develop.

i also contend that the vietnam production of silk figure is outdated.
lam dong is pumping over 1000 ton/year the last 2 years.

with the potential of new improved mulberry hybrids being used in quang nam and the increased cocoon yield lam dong have experienced from improved mulberry, the figures from that report have the potential to increase substantially.

i think we will hear news on that at the end of the year, which i think will be perfect timing for kbl.
