However, what you’ve described is not wash trading - I just provided a factual definition of the term - wash trading refers to buying shares through one broker and selling the shares through another broker. It’s illegal since it’s performed to manipulate the market and encourage other investors to move into a buying position.
So you’re saying the trades are fake, but “fake” in what way? The trader must own the shares to sell them.
