San Diego Union Tribune – Ancient virus’ success brings on new age of phage at UCSD Patient received AB-SA01 to resolve a persistent heart infection, that allowed him to receive a heart transplant The San Diego Union Tribune article highlights the case of a patient who received AmpliPhi Biosciences’ investigational bacteriophage therapeutic, AB-SA01, to help cure a Staphylococcus aureus infection located on his heart device that was not resolved by antibiotic therapy. The patient received a four-week treatment of AB-SA01 alongside antibiotics and the infection was eliminated. By resolving the infection, the patient was able to undergo a heart transplant and is now doing well.
