They are probably big companies. Some big companies wanted to get involved here. This could go very big.
You could also see a leverage buyout here where a big company buys over half the shares, if they are available, takes controlling interest of the company and owns it cheap. But that seldom happens, and the big companies that want to get involved don't do shoddy stuff like that. And a company has a way of blocking that if they know someone is in the process of trying it.
