Absolutely Daubers. As a very early member of LinkedIn, I never updated it, oh wait, I did once, when I retired. In fact, after that update I deleted the account. I figured that anyone that I would want to contact me would in fact know where I am.

I don't doubt the truth of your story and an accurate LinkedIn profile is obviously more important to some people than others. It's still odd to me.
I was a little surprised to hear that the Exec VP of Sales of the $200M/yr company you work for works for you ("I told him to either take it down or update"). Kudos! You've done well.
