Mohegan Sun's Connecticut operations netted $1.08 billion in revenue in the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30, a year-over-year increase of nearly 5.7 percent, the parent company's annual report shows. Foxwoods Resort Casino’s net revenues in the same period totaled $848.1 million, a 1.2 percent decline over the previous year. The casinos posted their reports online late last month. Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment, also known as the Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority, posted its report on the website of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The report shows that while net revenue declined at Mohegan Sun Pocono, the company’s casino in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., the company’s overall revenues totaled $1.38 billion, a 3.3 percent increase over the previous year. The $1.08 billion figure for Mohegan Sun’s Connecticut operations includes revenues generated by Mohegan Sun, the Mohegan Tribe’s Uncasville casino; the Connecticut Sun WNBA franchise; the Mohegan Sun Golf Club in Baltic; and the New England Black Wolves franchise in the National Lacrosse League.
Mohegan Sun is one of the largest casinos in the United States, with 364,000 square feet (33,800 square meters) of gambling space.[1][2] Operated by the Mohegan Tribe, it is located on 240 acres (97 ha) of reservation land along the banks of the Thames River in Uncasville, Connecticut. It is in the foothills of southeastern Connecticut, where 60 percent of the state's tourism is concentrated. It features the 12,000-seat capacity Mohegan Sun Arena, home of the New England Black Wolves of the National Lacrosse League and the Women's National Basketball Association's Connecticut Sun. It houses a 350-seat Cabaret Theatre, the 300-seat Wolf Den, and 100,000 sq ft (9,300 m2) of meeting and function room space, including the Northeast’s largest ballroom[3] and 130,000 sq ft (12,000 m2) of retail shopping. It is also where the studio of WMOS is located.
Foxwoods Resort Casino is a hotel and casino complex owned and operated by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation on their reservation located in Ledyard, Connecticut. Including six casinos, the resort covers an area of 9,000,000 sq ft (840,000 m2). The casinos have more than 250 gaming tables for blackjack, craps, roulette, and poker, and have more than 5,500 slot machines.[1][2] There are several restaurants within the casinos, among them a Hard Rock Cafe. Foxwoods has two hotel towers, with a total of 2,266 hotel rooms; and a two-story game arcade for children and teens. The original tower, the Grand Pequot Tower, opened in the 1997, while the second opened in 2008 as the MGM Grand; it was rebranded the Fox Tower in 2013.[3] In 2015 a retail complex, known as Tanger Outlet Mall, opened between the two hotel towers with 85 stores for luxury goods.[4]
