Tissue welding is not an entirely new technique, 1step, but E.O.Paton has perfected it to the point it puts various other techniques to shame.
Though I can't name names, as to who competitors are, my guess is they haven't had any truly considerable and noteworthy successes, or we'd be hearing about them.
We always hear about this guy or that, who has a new technique in doing this or that, faster, or quicker, or stronger, or longer, but in the field of surgery, we rarely hear much about improvements in techniques relating to healing. Odd, too, considering how many many thousands of surgeries are performed, even daily.
(This is a good sign, too, that no one else is making headway where LTC appears to.)
To the world in general, nanotechnology means very little, but to the industry professionals, the technology is almost beyond comprehension. LTC is much the same, IMO.
