This may be a little controversial on this board, but I might venture to say that unless something magical happens here; if anyone making millions on this stock, hasn't already cashed their million dollar chip, or settled for something less; it probably wont happen any time soon. And if they did they have probably made their millions and moved on. And anyone still waiting for the gold coin express, probably got to the station late and thinking they bought the golden ticket, probably got tickets to the polar express and will be waiting in line quite a while for a train that may not arrive.
And, not that I don't believe that shares can't or don't get counterfeited, even in significant quantity somewhere on a daily basis. But frankly, even if there is a huge counterfeit short position, folks highly underestimate the unethical's ability to bury fraudulent shares in their ledgers for months if not years on end. Frankly, as opaque as the DTCC is, there is probably a huge secondary black market for real shares whereby legit shares are likely rented out short term at a premium to any entity caught with their knickers around their ankles if the SEC auditor comes a'knocking. And once auditor is satisfied, they probly rent'em to the next broker or MM caught short.
