"... don't feel much hope that anything will happen."

This company has a process to extract gold from ore.

This company does not base their success on themselves having the so-called gold rich ore.

This company does not invest in a gold seeking company that so far has not found the gold rich ore.

This company needs to find a situation where the owner of a proven source of gold rich ore wants to change from a method using toxic chemicals to the Haber/Aladdin non-toxic process.

It appears our extraction process works, so the question is how much does it cost to switch, and cost to run, and what capacity is needed.

But you are correct in that these factors may prevent any usage and doom this company. If so, the only possible outcome for success will be if this company can advance their gold extraction process where the cost and means to switch over is a factor of ten easier, and that implies that this company is back to square one to develop something, and last time that took 25 years. (aka company declares failure)
