There are different scenarios, but with a company like Delcath, in case of BK, the scenario would be similar to this:
Their first priority during liquidation process would be to pay employees any owed wages and payroll taxes. After that, company must fork over any leftover money to any creditors.
If, by some miracle, there is money left after that, bondholders prob next in line and would get “pennies on the dollar” for their investments. Only after all above parties have been taken care of would the company pay its shareholders, but by that point, there’d be nothing left in the bank.
