Well thought out post, and you are right to look at Sigma as a value add technology. Sigma has many advantages to offer the industry and these are growing. Not to mention that the tech is viable beyond metal, (our work with OXYS is to include polymers (plastics)) so that is a whole new profit centre potential acquirers must look at. I would argue, and John Rice has discussed this, that it is not the tech that is dragging as much as it is getting people to change the way they have done things for 20 years. It will take time to change the views of the QA managers, to alter the factory logistics, but once the technology proves itself in one setting it will move pretty quickly. They were right to focus on aerospace for evaluation, but i bet a move into polymers could be swift if needed.
