Increases a RS can be very profitable. I have seen it both ways. As the price drops a RS wipes out large number of shares and places stock above $5.00 usually. Then if price was dropping before, the cycle repeats and price drops again and you lose all your cash.
On the flip side google MAST. In medical field. If I gave you the new ticker this post would be deleted. But after split it dropped to $4.00 then all the way up to $18.00. I sold at $15 to add here. Sitting at about $10.00 now. The RS was a great benefit because it brought lots of "industrial investors" which will only target stocks over $5.00 and stabilize it because they buy large lots.
It all depends on management goals and future guidance which IMO LDSR has benefited on both sides.
