You do realize that technology age obsolescence refers to hardware and not software, yes?

Mostly due to Moore's law (which is showing signs of slowing). Just because a technology is a year old doesn't mean it is obsolete. It needs to be demonstrably proven to be beaten.

Much of the current cryptographic protocols being used every single day to secure things like banking platforms or even military secrets are decades old.
