Some say there's a TRILLION DOLLARS worth of the world's highest quality crude in the GOG, just a straight shot to our shores, i.e., no dangerous sraits, etc.
The DOJ and the SEC investigations are IMO mainly intimidation so that Offor would be more willing to accept a lower price on a buyin or buy out.
Problem with that ( for the corporatcracy, Big Oil ) is that Offor has enough money already to be in the elite class that is unintimidated.
