For those here who feel QR codes are the sole value offered by the patents (which IMSO represents a fraction of the true value), I thought I might offer up this miniscule excerpt from Scania's post:

"...UnionPay cardholders are able to enjoy exclusive offers when making payments by scanning the UnionPay QR code."

This singular application represents a veritable fortune, yet it is far from the true scope of the patents....JMO.
