This information is relative to the initial patent granted to Edward Widner back in 2006 and has been discussed on this board at various times.

This patent expired January 2011.

Supposedly there have been modifications particularly in the computer software in recent years (may be the plug and play feature) which apparently make the PAS technology more marketable.
