It is the 'irrational fear' that kept me from the .com bubble despite people around were buying, but I did buy in Jul 2001. So I think I am a OK timer. I got burnt on a few individual stocks but never got very wrong on the big market.
Sitting out a rally does not hurt like buying around peak. Of course, I don't know the real peak but I have some sense on a short-term peak.
