Yup, Chinas regulatory and enviromental tangle has screwed up graphite supply big time. Back in the 90's they put the rest of the world out of the graphite mining business, even though the mineral is plentiful in Canada, no one could compete with their cheap labor and lax environmental practices. Now all that has come back to haunt them and they cant sustain the markets they created. Demand is at an all time high as graphite is a key ingredient in the batteries that power emissionless vehicles. But these manufacturers are driven by green principles and people like Elon Musk of Tesla Motors has publically vowed to steer clear of China's dirty graphite. As all the major carmakers are throwing their hat into the ring of the E vehicle trend, the demand is far outstripping the ability of the world to mine, and this situation will sustain for at least 5 years at current levels. This has driven graphite prices to all time highs! Which is my its the best time in human history to be in the graphite mining business, and a great time to get a piece of $GRXXF before it hits the moon.
