With most all drugs tested the trials include a group of individuals that think they are getting the real drug, but are not. This is the placebo group.. The percentage varies but a number of people will report a positive response to NO medication at all. This is called the placebo effect. Frequently it can be as much as 30% , but it varies. It is then compared to the group or groups that actually got the drug or medication.
