I have done a little bit of long range shooting. This is simply inhuman IMHO. For me, 1000 yards is a helluva way off, and yes, it is possible with good equipment to shoot groups of 10 inches or less at that distance. The best I have ever done is a bit more than that. A friend of mine shot a 5.1 inch group at the Williamsport shoot ONE TIME. Now, I do know that there have been actual sniper kills of over 2500 yards, but that is with a spotter, and the sniper does not always hit the target and kill him on the first shot.
Now, as to actual game shooting, I have two kills of over 500 yards. One was a British Columbia Caribou. The other was a Colorado elk. Both were one shot kills.
