That is generally the case, JB. Non-competes usually apply if the employee quits, but not if terminated. But the terms of those agreements vary. It also depends on how they define “competitor.”

I think the reason for the retention bonuses was simply because the board was afraid those people would leave, and then they would have a big problem. They may also have been afraid those people would follow DOC, which makes be a bit nervous about the 3/1/18 date. Not uncommon to have retention bonuses simply because there is a flight risk that is critical to the company, and merger retention bonuses usually happen after the merger for the same reason, so that the buying company holds on to what they paid for in the deal.

I'm sticking by the acquisition talks where in place and his vision of a $6B company wasn't going to happen under his watch. Therefore he disagreed with it and resigned. If you think about it, Tony joined in April 2017 and DOC leaves in July. Tony has been working on something the entire time. That is why the interim CEO, radio silence and just going through the motions.....very little self promotion from a company who had a years worth of cash on hand after DOC left.......the good news is the science will get fast tracked in the hands of a BP with more credibility...GLTA
