I had loaded up on the compact fluorescent bulbs a while so I'll using them for quite a while. Not as good as LED but a LOT better than the old bulbs.

There's a couple of hard to reach places that I will get the LED's for when the time comes though so as to not have to bother again.

I still have some of the old bulbs and I like them for spots where you only put the light on and off quickly. I found that fluorescents hate that and die quickly when not left on for a while. I know incandescents don't last as long under that scenario either but they are a sunk (cheap) cost and electric usage is minimal (ex. rarely used hallway) so I'll use them there.

Eventually, LED's are perfect here too as they don't care how many times you put them on and off.

You're lucky your son conserves gas.
