Most of the time it's just buried somewhere on your own computer...

I find files all the time I can't believe I still have from several computers ago...

Sometimes they open, sometimes they don't with the newer operational systems.

But you can always go back and open them on the system they were created on.

And if you are on a PC, you are SOOO very vulnerable

Take this test...

See if your system passes or fails malicious probes of your internet security...

http://www.grc.com/ Click on "Shields ups" and go through testing... Scroll down to "Hot Spots" and hit "Shields up" again to enter testing pages.

If you don't have 100% security, people can probe your computer from anywhere in the world and even slave your server. Anything YOU can get to, they can too. Files, jpgs whatever....

On your own computer you may think you have deleted something but sometimes it's still retrievable with the right tools.

That's why they (whoever they are) say when you buy a new computer it's not really a good idea to donate the old one because all of your information may still be on it and someone with the right software can retrieve banking information or any other information that you may not want to be public.
