I’m sorry but I’m just not buying their story. It doesn’t pass the smell test. No reputable company just spontaneously moves a customer’s website to another server and puts them out of service for days; especially without notifying them first.

It’s just not the way things are done. You re-create the website on the new server first, you test it and ensure it’s ready to go live before you even touch the original server. Then when ready you redirect traffic to the new server. It should be seamless, there should be no down time to the customer. Nope, I’m calling this one as a bold face lie. My guess is they accidentally let the contract expire. Now they had to contact the host, and basically establish new service and sign a new contract. THAT would explain the long down time.
